The activities and achievements of SNLTR are classified into three categories:

  Development of Technology and Tools

  Development of Language and Linguistic Resources

  IT enabled tools for education of the less privileged

The first aims at developing technology to enable use of computers using local languages. The second activity is focused on making the literary resources available to the users in a standardized and computer-searchable form. Moreover, availability of a large and clean corpus of language resource in standardized form is a necessity in development of modern day technology, such as machine translators, question-answering systems etc. The third activity aims at development of interactive, self taught, Computer Aided Instruction tools using multimodal technology for the children who need special support.
